Emergency Birthday Cake!

Hi/ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ

So a friend of mine asked for a favour, someone he knew needed a huge birthday cake for twin boys, turning 16 years old… The next day!!!

So apparently since I seem to have a knack for trying to pull off the impossible, of course I decided to help out!

In just about 6 – long- hours, I made those cakes.

One vanilla cake and one chocolate cake, iced in pure butter icing and bordered and decorated with fresh cream. The discs and letters are all made of fondant, and I used edible pearls for the 16 and the corner decorations. There’s also a liberal sprinkling of fairy dust, 😉 .

Adding that magical sparkle to all decadent sweet treats!

Lalaloopsy Doll Cake

Lalaloopsy… What an unusual name right?

Well, it was quite an unusual doll to make.

The cake is a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, covered in coloured fondant.

Decorations are all made of fondant and are edible.

Glad to say, mom and daughter were very happy with the cake indeed!

Chocolate & Strawberry Buttercream Cake

About 2 weeks ago, my aunt asked me to bake a cake for her, and of course it had to be chocolate, as she’s a big fan of chocolate cake, and loves the one I make.
But this time, I thought I’d do something a bit different seeing that my previous chocolate cakes were just plain decoration wise.

I decided to flavour some buttercream with strawberry extract, and colour it pink as well.

Chocolate and strawberry is the perfect indulgence combination, and I wanted to indulge my aunt a bit.

Goes without saying, she and my other aunts that joined her for tea, loved the cake.

Of course these days, they all love saying the cakes are too pretty to eat.. But eat them, they shall! Lol

Somehow Tinkerbell has made quite an impression on some of our young ladies.

I had a request for a Tinkerbell, 3 tier ‘wow’ chocolate cake!

Quite a challenge when a 4 year old knows exactly what she wants and how she wants it!

This was my interpretation, and thankfully both she and her mom were not only impressed, but loved it!

Chocolate Workshop Goodies

A few weeks ago, I hosted a chocolate workshop. The instructor was Miss Miriam Fakir, aka the Domestic Goddess from Benoni.

It went extremely well and we made quite a few things.

We made three collared mini cakes, some white chocolate cups filled with caramel, white chocolate covered truffles, ganache & almond truffles and coconut truffles.
